LORD WOLF
By
Clancy James
Hunger
burning in your stomach,
Chill wind biting at your flesh.
Muscles aching from your running,
This is nature at its best.
Eat the flesh to feed your cravings,
Drink from streams to quench your thirst.
Howl your joy into the night sky,
Know the land and rule the earth.
See the snow atop the mountains,
Hear the rustling of the leaves.
Feel the water bubbling past you,
You're the lord of all you see.
Start at unfamiliar noises,
Run from trampling on the ground.
Freeze when blinding lights shine on you,
Feel the sting that brings you down.
Wake into a life of torment,
Find out there is no escape.
Try to claw out of your prison,
You're a noble bound in chains.
Growl when rods of torment prod you,
Watch their faces twist in mirth.
Howl in sadness for your losses,
These are humans at their worst.
